Catholic Diocese of Ndola Bishop Benjamin Phiri has celebrated Mass on the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord with a call to Christians to be obedient to God.
The Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord highlights the announcement by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive a son by the power of the Holy Spirit to be called Jesus.
In his homily in the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola, Bishop Phiri said the faithful should emulate Mary who accepted the will of God without questions.
He also preached on the need for the faithful to perform their duties well for the benefit of human kind.
“We are all invited to emulate the example of the Blessed Mother that when God asks of us a certain service, task, assignment that we like Mary are going to say I am the handmaid of the Lord,” Bishop Phiri preached.
“May the Blessed Mother pray for us so that we may able to the tasks that God has assigned to us.”
Bishop Phiri concluded his homily by asking Christian to regularly recite the Holy Rosary.
“All of us have Rosaries. Some of us use them others don’t use them. Let us use those Rosaries; they are not ornaments or necklaces just to wear so that we look Catholic. Rosaries are an instrument that can help us to be better people that can help us be more obedient to God. Don’t go to bed without at least reciting a decade of the Rosary,” the Bishop said.
